Giant’s Castle in the Central Drakensberg area offers offers a variety of accommodation, self-contained cottages and chalets, a fully services lodge with it’s own cook, self-catering chalets and 3 mountain huts. But it is not necessary to stay at the Reserve to enjoy the beauty and walking and hiking trails as a variety of accommodation options are available within easy travelling distance of the Reserve.

Giant’s Castle has a variety of things to see and do. Giant’s Castle Game Reserve was proclaimed in 1903 with the aim of protecting the large herds of eland in the area. The common reedbuck, grey rhebok and orobi are a common sight in the Reserve. The Clarens sandstone shelter has been made into an open-air museum depicting the lifestyle of the hunter-gatherers, the San, also known as the Bushmen. More than 170 species are listed and include raptors like the Bearded Vulture, Cape Vulture, Jackal Buzzard and the Black Eagle, There is an indigenous garden, which is ideal for birding enthusiasts. A variety of walks and hikes of varying length and difficulty are well mapped out The annual Mountain Bike Challenge is held here in April
