Sterkfontein Dam boasts as the largest resevoir in the world. The water for this dam is taken from Woodstock dam and led via a canal to a small resevoir from where the water is pumped over the Drakensberg into Sterkfontein Dam. When there is a great demand for electricity, the water is allowed to flow back again over large urbines to produce Hydro electric power.There are anumber of resorts, lodges, self-catering cottages and B&b,s in the surrounding area.
