Northern Drakensberg Vergezient Mountain Resort
Vergezint Mountain Retreat offers wonderful accommodation and more for an unforgettable Northern Drakensberg experience. With a spectacular view of the Northern Drakensberg from Olivier’s Hoek Pass and the Amphitheatre right to Champagne Castle in the Central Drakensberg, an excellent Guest House ( to be opened in October), a very comfortable Barnhouse for hikers, well set out hiking trails, large fireplaces and a friendly ,sociable atmosphere, you will want to return more than once to experience the freedom and beauty of Vergezient Mountain Retreat.
The Barnhouse and hiking trails have been enjoyed and appreciated by many members of well known Hiking Clubs. The Barnhouse sleeps 30 people. I t has 2 rooms with 2 double bunks in each, an interleading room with 2 beds and 2 large attics with 20 comfortable mattresses on the floor. The front verandah is enormous and partly enclosed, with comfortable furniture, tables, benches and a large braai place at each end making this the favourite, sociable part of the house.
Trails are well set our ranging in difficulty and length through forrested gullies, open spaces, along streams, passed a waterfall and even to a cave with Bushman paintings.
The Guest House has 7 bedrooms on suite, a dining room, lounge a partly enclosed verandah, bar facilities and a sun room. Supper, breakfast and lunch are included in the price as well as mid morning and afternoon tea. Like the Barnhouse, the view is spectacular.
Many interesting day trips can easily be made from Vergezient Mountain Resort but with walks, the well set out trails, horse rides, farm animals and beautiful views you will most likely want to spend your time here.
