Drakensberg best walks and hikes

The Drakensberg is ideal for walking and hiking particularly as accommodation in all areas of the Drakensberg is within easy travelling distance of these walking and hiking trails.

Spend a day or two in each of the Royal Natal National Park, Champagne Valley, and Giant’s Castle areas to experience the most well known walks and hikes in the Drakensberg. Or base yourself in Winterton from where you can easily travel to different parts of the Drakensberg

In the Northern Drakensberg in asddition to the walks in Royal Natal National Park there are also well set out and mapped trails at Vergezient Mountain Resort for those who wish to stay there. This Resort has an incredible view of the Northern Drakensberg right down to Champagne Castle in the Central Drakenberg and it also offers excellent accommodation.
